Mountain
Moving Prayer
The
lesson of the mustard seed is the key verse for this lesson.
Characteristics of the
Holy Spirit are covered. Students look in the Bible to learn
how to ask God for guidance with the big issues of life and to
watch for His answers. Each of us has something (or will have
something) in life that seems too big to be changed – an
issue of faith, a broken relationship, a health issue, a
work-related situation, a financial problem.
Students
are encouraged to use Scripture as they focus on a specific
prayer need for a period of time and pray intently for God to
move that mountain according to His will. Students are
encouraged to be still, listen, watch for and recognize the
subtle and obvious ways God chooses to move their mountain.
Sometimes the mountain that moves is the discovery of
consistent and faithful prayer.
Look in the Book:
Students will read about Jesus’ arrest, trial,
crucifixion, and burial in
John 18-19.
Discover
it Daily:
Leaders and students are encouraged to choose and begin praying faithfully
for a period of time for God to move a mountain in their
lives. While God moves in His own time, having a set period
challenges the student to begin the habit of continual prayer.
Sometimes
the “mountain” that moves
is the resistance to beginning of a regular, earnest prayer
time.
